Dolly Short Gathered Skirt - Rockpool

ARTIST

Emma Stenhouse is on her journey towards belonging and becoming connected with her Ngarrindjeri heritage.  Her work is predominantly inspired by nature, connection to country using elements of contemporary art and traditional Iconography. A multifaceted creative, she explores diverse practices. Each piece is braided with learning, exchange between artist and viewer, a continuation of culture - a platform for cross cultural exchange. An experienced early childhood educator.

Emma imparts her knowledge of culture, implementing programming including traditional indigenous creative practices guided by Gunditjmara elders. A gatherer and sharer of knowledge, she uses this to guide her own journey. She builds capacity for others to learn and develop their own connections.

NAMESAKE

We love all of the facets that make up Dolly Parton! Whether it's the glamorous, quick-whited country singer or her incredible philanthropy, Dolly is a women to be admired. In 1955, she created the Imagination Library, a program that gifts free books to kids under 5 to foster a love of reading at a young age.

She's also donated $1 million toward the research behind Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine and another $1 million to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital in honour of her niece, who was treated for leukaemia at that hospital. And that's really only the beginning. Her insistence on being accepted and celebrated for exactly who she is provides an incredible message to all of us that can be proud of who we are.
